The Shushi Museum of Armenian Dram

On May 9,  2018 Museum of the Armenian Dram was opened in Shushi at Kazanchetsots Street, 24/1, with the assistance of the Central Bank of Armenia. The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of Armenia and Artsakh, officials of the two countries and numerous honorary guests who familiarized themselves with the exhibits. The mission of this museum was to present a wide range of banknotes, coins, medals - from the first Armenian samples to modern money.

The collection of the Museum of Armenian Dram comprised old coins from the Armenian Kingdom of Tsopk; of the Artashesean (Artaxiad) dynasty rulers, such as Tigran the Great, Artavazd the Second; of the Cilician Armenian Kingdom; and coins and banknotes of the Russian Empire, the First Armenian Republic and the Soviet Union. A special part of the exhibition was devoted to Artsakh: coins found in Tigranakert and silver coins cut in Shushi at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries, as well as souvenir coins issued by the Central Bank of Armenia and devoted to Artsakh.
