The Museum of Martuni
Objects from a typical home in the Martuni region from past centuries.
Fossils from a Martuni village prove that Karabakh was at the bottom of an ocean million years ago. While long ago, it is still hard to believe the mountains of Artsakh where either covered with water or were not there at all.
Panels display materials about Freedom-Fighters and of Monte Melkonian, a much loved, martyred leader of the Defence Forces in Karabakh, particularly the Martuni region
.
A merchant’s chest from the village of Hatsi, Martuni.
The Maxim gun above, used during WW I, was made usable again for the Artsakh Liberation War, then presented to the museum.
A display of an old costume typically worn by Karabakh women.
This artefact was found by a schoolteacher from a village in the region and presented to the museum. Its exact age has not been determined yet.
